Food Trucks at Founders Corner in St. Pete

foodtruckatfounderscornersmallIn an effort to promote free markets and to do its part to re-build a vibrant local economy, the owner of Founders Corner monuments and property began hosting a food truck on the property. Dr. McKalip, also the publisher of the Sun Beam Times, started a pilot project in conjunction with “the King’s Bistro” food truck on the property at 4th st. N and 62nd Ave. N in St. Petersburg.  The truck sells American, Italian and Spanish food and has travelled around the city as permitted by the local government.  While obtaining a permit slowed down the roll out a bit, the owners appear quite pleased with the opportunity to sell their wares at Founders Corner.  Dr. McKalip also hosted an art festival last fall on Founders Corner and is hoping to create regular local market traffic at the site.  Customers could be seen coming down to enjoy lunch in the shade of one of the beautiful Jacarandas or the Avocado tree.  Parking is legal on the street side around the corner (Southwest BLVD) and visitors are encouraged to visit the Founders Corner monuments at the same time.
