Founders Corner in St. Petersburg hosts its next event for the community this weekend as “Dog Tag Heroe’s” Veterans group collects items to help the pets of Vets and active military. The group will also help raise funds for its veterans assistance program. Dog Tag Heroes, inc. helps veterans and active military transitioning back to civilian life with training, computer competency and assistance in gaining employment. They also offer peer-to-peer mentoring, pet fostering, and small cash loans.
The group has invited everyone and their dogs to bring their gently used pet carriers to Donate a Crate for Veterans. The event will be Sunday, Oct. 28 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Founders Corner in St. Petersburg. On site will be a band, a barbecue, live music and games for a real family event. The Admiral Farragut Honor Guard will perform at 1 p.m. Parking will be available on the street next to Founders corner or in the parking lit behind “Start to Finish Spine Care or the “C1 Bank”.
Carriers will also be for sale, so anyone interested in picking one up should stop by. All proceeds will benefit the charity, which offers assistance to the pets of active military and veterans during deployment, hospitalization or convalescence. All donations are tax deductible.
About Dog Tag Heroes, Inc.: They are a not-for-profit Tampa Bay Area-based veteran service organization, whose mission is to support veterans, as well as service men and women, as they transition from military to civilian life by aiding the veterans to shed their dependence on the military, allowing the vets to embrace their humanness through peer-to-peer mentoring, community service, developing a holistic wellness program, and training the vets with real-world skills and computer competency so that they may obtain gainful employment or start training in another field. We also offer services such as pet fostering, small cash loans, and in the near future will offer long-term interest free loans.
