“The meaning of peace is the absence of opposition to socialism.” Karl Marx
As May Day, or “International Workers Day” approaches on May 1, the Sunbeam Times presents a series on Socialism that will continue into May. The economic, social and political system of socialism seeks to destroy possession of private property, place elitists in charge of all lives and plan economies of societies. Socialism trades on class warfare, sowing seeds of division among people to further its radical ends. History is littered with the remnants of wrecked socialist societies, yet the advocates of this failed, destructive system continue to push its adoption. America is no exception to feel pressure from the socialist movement, with adherents set on transforming the traditional beacon of the American free enterprise system into another corpse in the socialist graveyard.
The evidence of the socialist campaign in America is impossible to miss. While the advocates of socialism seek to hide their true intentions and mislead with happy talk, the veil is being removed every day – often by their own actions. Witness the continued attacks on capitalism in society. Riots and mob action are now common occurrence every week in an attempt to promote a key socialist ingredient –the class struggle. Government bureaucracies continue to dominate the lives of Americans and American businesses. The rule of law disappears as the rule of man supplants it – leaving Americans unsure on what is lawful and what is instead subject to the whims of the political class. Americans are taxed to extremes and our currencies are destroyed by printing from the Federal Reserve System. Socialist “community organizer” groups continue to infiltrate into our most vital American institutions as they push a false “Social justice”; churches, schools, governments, courts, youth groups, and corporations are all infected. American class warrior Godfather Saul Alinsky would be proud as his disciples continue to push destruction on all who disagree with their point of view through boycotts, silence of opposition through intimidation, and lawsuits to financially destroy those who don’t comply with the agitators’ agenda.
“The way to crush the bourgeoisie is to grind them between the millstones of taxation and inflation. Vladimir Lenin”
Modern socialist experiments continue to demonstrate the abject failure and destruction of these systems. Venezuela, a once free and prosperous country, was taken over by socialist Hugo Chavez. Now the country is best known for food scarcity, riots, fleeing refugees and rule by organized crime. Yet the press whitewash the problem as being caused by “poor economic planning” by the central government, rather than the actual cause – socialism. The continued classic socialist experiments continue to educate those who wish to learn. Cuba is stuck in a 1950’s technological stasis as those who threaten the state with any hint of “freedom” are jailed or killed. North Korea is a land of concentration camps for those who threaten state power and constant food shortages while South Korea glows with electric lights visible from space – ending at the northern border. Chinese families still drown girl babies in rice paddies to counter the restrictions on birth rates imposed by a socialist state to save “resources”.
The series on the Sunbeam times will focus on the history of socialism in the modern age (since the 19th century), how it is adopted and implemented and its failures. A large portion of the analysis will point to work by Pope Leo XIII and Saint Pope John Paul II who both wrote of the evils of Socialism in 1891 and 1991 respectively. Many American Catholics have been enthralled by socialism and advocate its adoption as a mean to achieve their misunderstanding of “social justice”. Little do they know that socialism is the only economic system definitively rejected by the Catholic Church as evil. Americans must recognize the threat that socialism poses to their freedom, the future of their children and the land that was designed to secure freedom for our posterity. Those who do not stand up now to oppose socialism, should not be surprised when their freedom is gone and everything around them has been utterly destroyed.
