Uh oh: Florida lawmakers’ special session in jeopardy before it even begins

Oh Dear!!”A special session of the Legislature, intended to finalize a deal inked behind closed doors last week on education and economic development, is falling apart before it even begins.Gov. Scott called state lawmakers back to Tallahassee for three days starting today with orders to do three things: boost spending per student in K-12 education; fund the state’s tourism agency, Visit Fl; and create a new economic development fund Scott can use to lure businesses. But by Tuesday, the consensus collapsed, as Senate President Negron called for lawmakers to address hospital funding and override some budget vetoes, threatening to derail a deal Scott struck with Speaker Richard Corcoran. The odds of an on-time finish to the special session Friday look increasingly bleak.”

Alabama just replaced work requirements on food stamps, and here’s what happened

Gee what a great idea!! “Alabama is reporting something remarkable as a result of replacing work requirements on food stamps – a massive reduction in food stamp participation… 13 counties in AL replaced work requirements for food stamp participation and saw an astounding 85% drop in people using the program… The requirements were reinstated for 54 counties in 2016, and the 13 remaining counties in 2017. Statewide the number of able-bodied adults without dependents participating in the food stamp program fell by 40% from 13,663 to 8,125, in the first 4 months of 2017. In the 13 counties where work requirements resumed, adults between the ages 18-50 without dependents receiving food stamps dropped from 5,538 to an amazing 831, a decrease of 85% in just 4 months.”

Must Read! “The media blob is making much of a Wash Post/ABC News poll that finds the public by a 2 to 1 margin opposes Trump’s decision to withdraw from the Paris Accord: ‘Most Americans oppose Trump’s decision to withdraw from the Paris climate agreement, with a majority saying the move will damage the US global leadership, according to a new Wash Post-ABC News poll.Opposition to Trump’s decision outpaces support for it by a roughly 2-to-1 margin, with 59% opposing the move and 28% in support.’Gee: I wonder where anyone might have got the idea that the move would “damage America’s global leadership.” Maybe from relentless news reports last week that all omitted to mention the salient fact that the US has reduced its greenhouse gas emissions more than any other nation?”

Jeff Bezos wants food stamps

Unbelievable! “Jeff Bezos, the second-richest man in the history of the world, wants food stamps. The mega-millionaire who owns the Wash Post and founded Amazon is now marketing directly to food stamp recipients to make him richer. Well, a limousine liberal does what a limousine liberal does to capitalize on socialism. People who receive government assistance are now eligible for a discount on Amazon Prime… Customers who have a valid EBT card qualify for the discounted $5.99 monthly membership for one year. It includes free 2-day shipping on more than 50 million eligible Amazon items and same-day delivery options as well as unlimited streaming of movies and TV shows with Prime Video, photo storage and subscription savings features. EBT cards are the updated version of food stamps. They are much more susceptible to fraud.I guess you can never be too rich.”

Watch Jon Ossoff Lose The Entire Special Election Debate In Less Than Four Minutes [VIDEO]

Great Question!! “Ossoff struggled through a brutal 4 min in GA’s spec election debate Tues after Handel called him out for not living in the district he is hoping to represent..Handel turned to Ossoff and asked him a question he couldn’t answer: who he was going to vote for in the election. As someone who lives outside the district, Ossoff is unable to cast a vote for himself. It went downhill from there for Ossoff. Ossoff defended himself by saying he lives outside the district in order to support his fiance at Emory University. He then attacked Handel for being born in Wash, DC . Handel shot back. “You might live just 5 miles outside of the district but your values are nearly 3,000 miles away in San Francisco, and that’s why so many of your contributions have come from liberals from CA, NY and MA. It’s why you’re supported by Pelosi, and folks it matters.”

MIT Climate Scientist Dr. Richard Lindzen: Believing CO2 controls the climate ‘is pretty close to believing in magic’

Must Read!”For over 30 years, I have been giving talks on climate change. When I speak to a non-expert audience, and attempt to explain such matters as climate sensitivity, ..that warming has decreased profoundly for the past 18 years, etc., it is obvious that the audience’s eyes are glazing over. Although I have presented evidence as to why the issue is not a catastrophe and may likely be beneficial, the response is puzzlement. I am asked how this is possible. After all, 97% of scientists agree that several of the hottest years on record have occurred during the past 18 years, .. polar bears are disappearing, as is arctic ice, etc.. I tended to be surprised that anyone could get away with such sophistry or even downright dishonesty. I will try to explain why such claims are evidence of the dishonesty of the alarmist position.”

Dems want Hillary Clinton to leave spotlight

Just hope she runs again-best choice for Republicans? “Democrats say they’d like Hillary to take a cue from former Obama and step out of the spotlight. They say her string of remarks explaining her stunning loss in Nov coupled with the public remarks blaming the DNC for the defeat – which many took as also critical of Obama – are hurting the party and making the 2016 candidate look bitter. The Hill interviewed more than a dozen Democrats about Clinton’s remarks, including many staunch Clinton supporters and former aides. They said they understood the need for Clinton to explain what happened in the election, and many also empathized with Clinton’s anger over Comey’s handling of a probe into her private email server. But they also unanimously said Clinton needs to rethink her public blaming tour.”

BP Oil Spill Money Headed to Northwest Florida

After mass devastation from the Deepwater Horizon oil spill 7 years ago, the Fl Panhandle is finally getting money to recover from the largest marine oil spill in history. The Triumph Gulf Coast will award Panhandle communities $300 million to aid in economic recovery efforts after millions of barrels of oil ravaged their cities and towns in 2010. Gov. Scott signed 2 bills allowing the Triumph Gulf Coast to begin payments to make reparations for the damage.”In 2010, our beautiful beaches were devastated by the impacts of the Deepwater Horizon oil spill,” Scott said. The first payment from BP totaling $1.5 billion — will be transferred to the Triumph Gulf Coast, which will use the money for various projects in the Panhandle. 8 counties will receive money from the settlement: Bay, Escambia, Franklin, Gulf, Okaloosa, Santa Rosa, Wakulla and Walton.”

Donald Trump needs to keep up his winning streak

Must Readl! ” Trump is on a winning streak. He’s come out on top 2 weeks in a row. Following his successful foreign trip, Trump last week stayed true to a major campaign promise by withdrawing from the climate accord. Almost as important as his America’s First logic- Pittsburgh vs Paris- was the fact that his White House was at its best in backing up the boss. Able surrogates, especially EPA chief Pruitt, were ready to go from the start, and outside advocacy groups were teed up to offer instant supporting comments via email… Trump’s good week looks even better when compared to the disastrous play of his opponents. In addition to the left’s exploding-heads reaction to the climate pact, two other examples tell the story: Hillary and Kathy Griffin. Both blame Trump for making them crazy. Who’s to argue?”

Editorial: Florida troopers need more money

Wow!! Did not know how poorly our state troopers are compared to other states. Time to increase their pay to attract more people to apply!! “Gov. Scott loves to compare Fl to TX, especially when economic reports show the Sunshine State running ahead of the Lone Star State. But there’s one area where “Don’t mess with Texas” reigns supreme: pay for state troopers. While the Fl Legislature’s decision to provide a 5% pay increase for law enforcement in the proposed 2017-18 state budget is a good step forward, state troopers are woefully underpaid compared to their counterparts in TX and elsewhere. This is a safety issue for Floridians as well as a fairness issue for troopers, whose starting pay of less than $34,000 a year is not nearly enough for putting their lives on the line and helping keep everyone else safe.”

California Democrats Just Voted for Single-Payer Healthcare But Have No Idea How to Pay for It

Free healthcare for all in CA? Problem is they have no way to pay for it.! “The state senate in CA, the new capital of the Liberal Confederate States of America, just approved a bill guaranteeing single-payer healthcare for residents. What’s missing? How to pay for it. Legislators put the cost of the bill at $400 billion, and are just waiting for the Democrat-controlled state Assembly to give it the green light before delivering it to Gov. Brown.During the debate over the bill, Democrats nakedly admit that ObamaCare has left millions without ins due to coverage gaps or spiking premiums…While he acknowledges that there’s no payment mechanism to guarantee health insurance to CA with zero out-of-pocket costs, Lara doesn’t seem too worried that even if every state program were eliminated to make way for the bill, CA would still have less than half the necessary funding.”

S&P, Moody’s Downgrade Illinois to Near Junk, Lowest Ever for a U.S. State

Bankrupt? What now Illinois?”Illinois had its bond rating downgraded to one step above junk by Moody’s and S&P Global Ratings, the lowest ranking on record for a US state, as the long-running political stalemate over the budget shows no signs of ending. S&P warned that IL will likely lose its invest-grade status, an unprecedented step for a state, around July 1 if leaders haven’t agreed on a budget that chips away at the government’s chronic deficits. Moody’s followed S&P’s downgrade Thurs, citing Illinois’s underfunded pensions and the record backlog of bills that are equivalent to about 40% of its operating budget.“Legislative gridlock has sidetracked efforts not only to address pension needs but also to achieve fiscal balance,” Moody’s analyst said.”

What the House Subpoenas of Rice, Brennan, and Power in the ‘Unmasking’ Probe Mean

About Time!”The House Intelligence Committee has reportedly issued 7 subpoenas in connection with its investigation of Russian interference in the 2016 election and of the Obama administration’s potentially illegal use of the government’s foreign-intelligence-collection power for the purpose of monitoring Americans — in particular, Americans connected to the Trump campaign and transition. The most intriguing detail of the subpoenas is the demand for any information related to requests for unmasking by Samantha Power, Obama’s ambassador to the UN.Were there to be info indicating that Power was involved in unmasking American identities in intelligence reports, significant questions would be raised… She was not an intelligence analyst…The Journal report further indicates that committee subpoenas demand any information related to unmasking requests by Susan Rice and John Brennan.”

Black Republican Has Enough, Stands Up To Speak…Stunning Entire Senate Floor

Must Read!! There’s a racism problem in the US. Black Americans are continually maligned and attacked for their political views, forced into a narrow spectrum of political belief. This racism is not coming from Trump-loving Republicans or the dreaded alt-right. This brand of racism comes straight from the left. Black conservatives are often referred to as “Uncle Toms” and are treated as pariahs. Sen Tim Scott took to the Senate floor to read the vile and racist tweets sent his way from the liberal side of the aisle. After Sen Scott voiced his support for Jeff Sessions, he was bombarded with hate.“Senator Uncle Tim Scott” one tweet read…Dr. Ben Carson faced many of the same criticisms during his campaign…This sort of blatant racism is fully accepted on the left when it’s against black conservatives.”

Carr: Lawrence illegal immigrants swept up in raid prove Sununu, LePage right

Great Read! “Where do NH Gov. Sununu and Maine Gov. LePage go to get their apologies from the Democrat hacks and the fake-news media who were so recently blasting them as xenophobes and nativists for pointing the finger at the illegal immigration drug dealers wreaking havoc on their states? As recently as March, Sununu said there’s “no doubt” illegal Dominican drug dealers from Lawrence are involved in peddling heroin in the Granite State. The very-PC Boston Globe ran a front-page column saying, “Dear Gov Sununu, visit Lawrence before you speak.”Cut to the indictments in Boston of 30 alleged heroin dealers from Lawrence and the surrounding area.“Of those defendants who were identified,” .. “9 were unlawfully in the US…Dominican nationals…Several of the remaining defendants are suspected to be using false names…so may be unlawfully in US.”
